There are a lot of ways to improve your page ranking when using Google’s My Business service. Unfortunately, many of them are based on theories, rather than solid facts. Here, we’re going to give you four areas that have a definite impact, with our information coming directly from Google.
When you improve your ranking, you’re listed higher on the page and become visible to more people doing searches for the right keywords, in your area. This extra exposure you receive gets more eyes on your business/page, which of course increases awareness/sales or whatever your aim is.
The more relevant your listing category is to the keyword being searched for, the more likely it is that your result will be displayed higher. The key tip here is to make sure you put your listing in the correct, and most relevant, category.
Simply put, this is how much traffic you already get to your website. Google’s algorithm lists those sites that are already proven to be popular higher than others. A tough one to work around, although once you get high in the rankings anyway, the large amount of traffic would help keep you there.
This is a location based tool. The closer the searcher is to your business location, the more likely your result will be prioritized. There’s nothing you can really do for this one, as Google is pretty strict on correct addresses.
- Search History
How many times a person has searched for the keyword being used in the current search, and then clicked on your link. The more this has happened, the better your future rankings will be. You want to be well targeted with your keywords and listings here, as you want to appear on the page for the right searches. Doing this and getting click-throughs will increase your ranking for those same keywords.
